College Scholarship Goals and Opportunities

We here at Rock n Fire are proud of ALL our past and present students who have gone on to pitch successfully at the collegiate level. The Rock n Fire program has helped place over 100 girls (and counting) into collegiate softball programs.

1)      We strive to find programs that are the “right fit” for both the STUDENT and the PARENTS. We are not concerned with which school(s) looks better on the Rock n Fire resume, or to our legacy.

a)      Our ultimate goal is that ALL of our students become the “BEST THEY CAN BE”, not just in softball, but in ALL facets of life.

b)      We CANNOT and WILL NOT promise college scholarships. We CAN teach your daughter how to prepare and compete for one, if she so desires. Coaches reward scholarships based on many factors, but NO COACH can “get you” a college scholarship.

c)      The level of play that a student ultimately attains at the collegiate level, almost always “takes care of itself”. It is determined by possessing the proper combination of desire, work ethic, talent, and skill. Our ego does not “ride” on our student(s) choice of whether to play Division 1,2 or 3 softball.

2)      Our goal is to see that EVERY student who attends Rock n Fire, leaves with an overall positive, FUN experience, coupled with acquisition of some important life lessons, accompanying their softball training. WE strive to build each students “self-esteem”.

a)      Our goal is to HELP “place” as many students as possible into collegiate programs. We DO NOT try to “force” or “steer” students towards a school, or level of play, that may not be in THEIR best interests. We always put the STUDENT(s), and the PARENTS FIRST here at Rock n Fire.

b)       We advise ALL of our students, to take ALL things into consideration when making their school choice. Academic major, comfort level, softball skill level, ability, expense and distance from home, should be considered by the student and her parents, when choosing a school.

3)      We want ALL of our students (and their parents) to enjoy and benefit from all facets of college life; Not JUST softball. We strive to make it a point to our students that EDUCATION ALWAYS COMES FIRST at Rock n Fire.

a)      Choosing a college is the FIRST “real life choice” a student makes. It is important that the choice each student makes is the right one for THEM.

4)      Rock n Fire, by design, is not a “numbers driven” program. We choose to work with a smaller volume of students per week than other coaches.  Our measure of success, for the girls with the desire to play at the collegiate level, is to look at the PERCENTAGE of students per graduating class, that we help place into collegiate programs.

a)      I prefer to work with a smaller volume of girls per week than some other pitching coaches for the following reason.  In my opinion, small group instruction (as opposed to private instruction or large group instruction) produces the best results.

b)      I prefer not to “count” how many of my girls go Division 1, 2 or 3. We make sure that all Rock n Fire students receive an equal amount of attention and help, regardless of age, potential, ability or skill level. We are a “FAMILY”.

c)      It is our goal to not allow Rock n Fire to become, what some people in the sport refer to as a “pitching puppy mill”.

5)      We believe in stressing to the students, the importance of being the “BEST WE CAN BE”, both academically and athletically.. Success should always come come as a bi-product of HARD WORK and PREPARATION, NOT MANIPULATION.

6)      Our hope is that we help produce fine young ladies, who will lead productive lives when their softball playing days over.

Below is a “quick list” of schools where Rock n Fire students have successfully continued their educations, and softball careers.
